About the scheme
The Student Internship Programme (SIP-CAG) is run by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India to give students hands‑on experience in government audit and accounting work. Selected interns work for 3 to 6 months in CAG offices in New Delhi or any field office across India, receiving office space, a computer with internet and a monthly stipend of ₹12,000. At the end they must submit a report, give feedback and receive an experience certificate. No travel allowance or other perks are provided, and the internship does not lead to a regular job.

- Stellar academic record
- Preferred: skills in Information Technology (IT) and Information Communication Technology (ICT) with good communication and interpersonal skills
- Must sign a secrecy and non‑disclosure agreement before starting
- Working hours same as regular office timing; no leave entitlement
- No extra remuneration for work beyond office hours or on weekends/gazetted holidays
Who cannot apply
- Internship does not constitute a regular job or appointment in CAG or Indian Audit & Accounts Department
- No employer‑employee relationship between CAG and the intern
- No TA/DA for attending interviews
- No other perks or facilities such as DA, accommodation, residential phone/conveyance/transport, foreign travel, personal staff, medical reimbursement, CGHS
- No compensation in case of death, injury or illness during the internship
