About the scheme

The RAKSHAK PURASKARS Award is a state‑level award instituted by the Directorate of Women and Child Development in Goa. It recognises individuals who have shown exceptional courage in aiding, protecting or helping victims of violence or harassment against women and girls in Goa. The award is conferred twice a year on Independence Day and includes a scroll or citation and a cash prize of ₹20,000 for each recipient.

Who can apply (eligibility)

• Applicant must have shown exceptional courage in aiding, protecting or helping victims of violence or harassment against women and girls in Goa.
• Applicant can be from any profession such as police officer, doctor, lawyer, social worker, teacher, tourist guide, lifeguard, bus/taxi/auto driver, etc.
• Applicant must be a resident of Goa for the last 5 years as of 1st January of the year, or have worked in Goa for at least 2 years.
• Applicant must not have received any other award in the same field during the same year.
• Applicant must be above 25 years of age as of 1st January of the year.

Who cannot apply

• Applicants who have received another award in the same field during the same year.
• Applicants below 25 years of age.
• Applicants not resident of Goa for last 5 years or not worked at least 2 years in Goa.

Documents required

• Passport size photograph duly attested by a gazetted officer.
• Proof of identity.
• Soft copy of the application on CD in Word format.
• Brief life sketch in prescribed format.
• Press clippings, certificates, appreciations, photographs if any.
• Residential certificate.
• Bank details (account number, bank name, branch, IFSC code).

How to apply

1. 1Fill the prescribed application form, paste a passport‑size photograph and attach copies of all required documents.
2. 2Visit the Office of the Directorate of Women & Child Development at Old Education Building, 2nd Floor, 18th June Road, Panaji, Goa and submit the signed form with documents.
3. 3Obtain the receipt/acknowledgement of successful submission.
