Who can apply (eligibility)
- Category I: Must be a museum functioning under the Central or State Governments.
- Category II: Must be a museum registered as a Society, voluntary institution, or Trust under the Indian Societies Act of 1860 or equivalent law, with at least 3 years of operational existence post-registration.
- Category II institutions must have a clear constitution/bye-laws, operate strictly on a not-for-profit basis for public service, and hold a substantial collection of historical, cultural, or scientific objects continuously on public display.
- The nominated professional must be an Indian citizen.
- The nominated candidate must hold a basic graduation degree in any discipline.
- The candidate must possess at least 3 years of verifiable working experience in or for a museum (even if gained outside the nominating institution).
- For sub-component (i), the international host institution must have formally issued an acceptance letter or written expression of interest to host the candidate.
- Candidates travelling abroad must hold an official admission confirmation letter and a valid passport with at least 6 months remaining validity at the time of application.

- Freelancers or independent professionals who do not have an active institutional attachment with a museum are not eligible.
- Participation exclusively in international conferences or seminars cannot be funded under this scheme.
