About the scheme

MODROB, part of the AICTE Quality Improvement Scheme, is designed to modernise and remove obsolescence in laboratories, workshops and computing facilities of technical institutions. The scheme offers grants for creating technical infrastructure aligned with the revised curriculum, upgrading existing equipment, enhancing performance, and replacing depreciated tools. It also encourages industry participation and allows the installed equipment to be used for faculty and student continuing education, as well as for consultancy and training of local industry workers.

Who can apply (eligibility)

• AICTE‑approved technical institution or university department with at least 10 years of existence (5 years if located in a rural area)
• More than 50% admission for the past 3 years (Aspiring) or more than 60% admission for the past 3 years (Regular & Polytechnic)
• No prior MODROB project sanction (Aspiring) or no MODROB project in last 2 years (Regular)
• Maximum 3 proposals per institute per year (not more than one per department)
• Preference given to institutions involving industry in laboratory modernization (Regular)
