About the scheme

The Internship Policy of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), under the Ministry of External Affairs, offers budding scholars an avenue to understand India's soft power in foreign policy formulation. Selected interns contribute to research, creative writing, cultural mapping, performing arts modules, technological upgrades, and social media diplomacy. The training runs for a maximum period of four months and accommodates up to 15 interns annually across ICCR's headquarters in New Delhi and regional offices in Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad.

Who can apply (eligibility)

  • Must be a citizen of India
  • Must be 25 years of age or younger as of 31st December of the internship year
  • Must hold a graduation degree in Humanities, Mass Communication, Journalism, Designing, Anthropology, History, Art, Archaeology Science, Languages, Museology, or Fine Arts
  • Post-graduate students, research scholars, and foreign language students are also eligible
  • Must possess an excellent academic record, preferably from a recognized Indian university
  • Research scholars with formal backgrounds in International Relations and Soft Power Projection are given preference

Who cannot apply

  • Candidates who previously opted out of the ICCR internship program after selection are barred from applying again
