Grant to Meritorious Wards of ESM in Sports 2026: Support for Sports Achievements

About the scheme

The scheme is designed to support talented sports persons who are wards of ESM or widows of ESM. It provides financial assistance based on their achievements in sports at the national or international level. Applicants need to submit an offline application along with relevant certificates and documents to the Department of Sainik Welfare, Puducherry.

Benefits

• Grant of ₹50,000/- for achievements in sports at the international level.
• Grant of ₹30,000/- for achievements in sports at the national level.
• The amount is credited to the beneficiary’s Bank Account through RTGS/ NEFT.

Who can apply (eligibility)

• The applicant should be a Ward of an ESM / Ward of the Widow of an ESM.
• The ESM / Ward of the Widow of an ESM should be registered with the Department of Sainik Welfare, Puducherry.
• The event should be organised by a body approved/recognised by the Government.
• The applicant should have achieved merit in a sport at the national/international level.

Documents required

• Relevant Certificates of Achievements in Sports at National/International Level.
• Attested Copies for Participation and Sponsorship.
• Identity Card of the ESM / Widow of the ESM.
• Birth Certificate of the Ward (if not already registered with the DSW).
• Study Certificate of the Ward (if not already registered with the DSW).
• First Page of Bank Passbook.

How to apply

1. 1Visit the official website of the Department of Sainik Welfare at https://sainik.py.gov.in/ and download the prescribed application form.
2. 2Alternatively, visit the Department of Sainik Welfare in Puducherry to request a hard copy of the form.
3. 3Fill in all mandatory fields, attach photographs and required documents.
4. 4Submit the completed application form and documents to the Department of Sainik Welfare, Puducherry during working hours.
