About the scheme
Launched by the Ministry of Education and implemented through AICTE, the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan Yojana - Special Scholarship Scheme for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (PM-USP SSSJKL) aims to build capacities among the youth of J&K and Ladakh. Benefits
- General Degree: Up to ₹30,000 per annum for academic fees across 2,070 scholarships.
- Professional/Engineering/Nursing/Pharmacy/Architecture: Up to ₹1,25,000 per annum for academic fees across 2,830 scholarships.
- Medical/BDS Streams: Up to ₹3,00,000 per annum for academic fees across 100 scholarships.
- Fixed maintenance allowance of ₹1,00,000 per year for all streams, disbursed in 10 equal monthly instalments of ₹10,000 via NSP through PFMS.
- Institutions cannot charge extra fees from students even if their actual fee exceeds the prescribed upper ceiling.

Who can apply (eligibility)
- Must be a domicile of the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir or Ladakh.
- Must have passed Class 12 from JKBOSE or CBSE-affiliated schools located in J&K or Ladakh.
- Annual family income must be less than or equal to ₹8,00,000.
- For Lateral Entry, students must have passed a Diploma in Engineering from polytechnics recognized by DTE of J&K and Ladakh.
